Lucía Rojas is a Colombian-born interdisciplinary artist and improviser based in Toronto/T’karonto. Her practice moves across sound, image, mixed media, performance and documentary, while remaining open to whatever form the work seems to ask for.
Her sound practice draws on voice, field recordings, samples, electronics and documentary ways of listening. Grounded in improvisation, it is drawn to the ‘space in between’ and to the multiple stories, presences and realities that become perceptible when we stop assuming the in-between is empty.
She performs as part of the experimental duo Brown Dolly and in collaborative interdisciplinary projects.
